It's the coolest thing. Hanna has a few more freckles on her little nose. I think they look beautiful and I tell her that.
I remember when Hanna was young and we'd be walking through Costco. A lady would lean over and say, "How beautiful! She looks exactly like her mother!" And I'd smile and reply, "She sure does." But I was never referring to me, rather Katie, her gorgeous birthmom.
Then when Hanna was a little older and learned to talk, she'd tell me I needed to wash my face 'to get the mud off''.
"Oh Hanna, those are just mama's freckles. Trust me, they don't wash off. I've tried."
"So they won't ever come off mama?"
"At this stage, Hanna, I'm thinking not."
But when I see a few freckles on Hanna, I see how beautiful they look on someone else. I see a reflection into my own beauty. Maybe we do share some resemblance. And just maybe my freckles aren't so bad after all.

Your beautiful daughter is more like you than you even realize. I believe she gets her patience, soft mannerism and her sweet little smile from you, her mom..
xoxo

Natacha

I got your page address from Natacha. Have now read quite a bit of it and cry everytime I come back to read your recient post. You are an inspiration to adoptive parents. We were given word on Saturday that we are approved. And can't wait to be matched!

Oh congrats Erin! I look forward to hearing how your adoption unfolds. Our experience has been truly amazing. I believe it can be for any family open to the process. Hanna is such a gift -- in many ways I can't quite articulate.
Thanks for your beautiful comments. Hanna and I love sharing our journey. Now that work has slowed down for me, I look forward to posting more!
Warmest, Paula
