He fell off his sled and bumped his head,

I'd really love it if you could bring me a few things. A doll, some skates, and a puppy!
Don't forget to eat the cookies we made you. And I'm leaving some carrots and grass for the reindeer. Is Rudolph coming?

This year more than ever, the magic of Christmas is so present in our home. The tree is going up earlier than it's ever gone up and with Hanna's magic touch, it's going to look fabulous. I'll admit, stringing lights with a 3 year old is no easy task. So I opted to do that on my own after she went to sleep. But hanging ornaments was her thing. I had to teach her about balance... i.e. we can't put all the ornaments on one branch or the tree would fall over. (Funny, how life and tree decorating are so similar!) What this picture doesn't show is that she's tip-toeing on a 3-foot stool right now to reach the top.
Now, our tree will never win a design award. The ornaments are an eclectic collection, for sure. Some hand-made, some store-bought, some gifted from who knows who. Brad was so thrilled to see his Stella Star make the cut. (Stella like the beer Stella... that came in a six-pack!) And the lights remind me of the lights on my Baba's tree many years ago. But somehow this eclectic mix makes the tree feel so special. My favourite part has been watching Hanna plug it in each morning. As the tree lights up, so do her eyes... so does my heart.
