She's my Sister!

Day 2...

Hanna's been calling everybody her sister... the kids at her day home, the dog at her day home, the babysitter...

"Mama, Samantha's my sister, Emma's my sister, Jodie's my sister, Britney's my sister, Steph's my sister..."

"Wow, Hanna, you sure have a lot of sisters."

"Yup, and Natacha's my sister and..."

The list goes on and on. The family of love continues to grow in Hanna's Home.

A picture a day

I've started a game with Hanna... a picture a day... for 30 days. Here's Day 1. 

Aunty Larissa, the sweater has come in handy in the -30 degree weather we are having. Although, Hanna's not a sweater queen. I'm all bundled up with sweaters and slippers and she walks around in a t-shirt and bare feet. I'd love to bottle up some of her metabolism!

Two and a half

I came home to a new girl... her face looks different, her vocabulary has ballooned and her playful spirit continues to warm my heart. We made salad together the other night. She washed all the veggies and I chopped. 

Hanna continues to be Miss Independent. She dresses herself, goes into the bathroom and yells "Don't come in..." (I think she likes her privacy)... even fills the bathtub on her own with the exact right temperature of water. She's so eager to learn and is such a quick study.

It's hard to believe she just turned two and a half yesterday. I keep asking, What do we do for the rest of our lives? She knows so much already.

Her favourite phrases lately?

"You promise?"

and

"Just a minute..."

I Will Always Listen

Dear Hanna,

I am away this week on a course. I miss you already. But know that I send lots of hugs and kisses to you throughout the day. You are such a guiding light in my life... a reminder that miracles show up in mysterious ways, and in small beautiful packages with LOTS of energy and curiousity.

Sometimes I don't always understand you. I don't always know what upsets you. I don't always get why you want your dad to help you and not me. But I am listening. I will always listen.

Remember Hanna, you are an angel.
