Wow mama!  These sunflowers are beautiful.  They are just starting to open up too. Can I touch them? Can I pull the petals off? Maybe when you're not looking?

Two new balls

Buy her two colourful balls and go outside to play.

"For me?" she asks. "Yes, Hanna, just for you!"

At first, dad lends her a helping hand.

But then, it's off with the hat and a way we go. 

Soon we are into the face plant...

and then overbooooaaaarrrrdddd....

Too much fun, I tell ya!

Déjà vu

Do you remember a year ago? 

We do.  It was on this day last year that we got the infamous call.

Seeing Hanna play with her phone today was like déjà vu.  She is straight from my dreams.

No more rain

We've had the craziest weather here lately. It changes on a dime. Yesterday, I got caught in three hail storms.  Luckily no damage. And today, we're outside playing in the grass.

Hanna likes the sensation of grass and pavement on her feet. She also likes the big dogs that pass by. She immediately greets them with a resounding 'WUF'.

The ground was too wet to do any gardening but we played with the watering can... and checked out the trees. Everything looks mighty fine.

(No honey, we don't eat the leaves...)

   

Happy days

These are happy days we live. Today, I bought Hanna her own watering can. We tried it out in the bathtub and it works great. When the rain stops, we'll try it outside.

I've fallen in love with gardening. By no means am I a green thumb. I garden how I'd like to live life.  Walk the aisles of the green house and buy what speaks to me in the moment. Plant it in the ground, water it, admire it, speak to it and if I don't like how it turns out or it dies, pull it out and try something different. No problem. My garden is one big experiment.

Today I brought home a plant that had the coolest foliage only to find out the sap is poisonous. Given my little garden helper Hanna loves to sample everything by mouth, this plant is not an option. Oh well...

It's still a happy day.

Happy Father's Day

Hi all,

Given that this is my first Father's Day, I'd like to say Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, including my own "da-da" and my birth dad Landon. I'm so happy they picked me for their daughter. Or did I pick them??? Who knows how that all works.

What's important is that they know how much I love them. Not many kids get to have two dads like me. Mama says there's enough love to go around for everyone.

I think she's right.

Oh, and look closely above my head in the picture. You'll see my dad's latest purchase of "office art".  Our backyard is becoming an art gallery. Mama loves the inukshuk.

Dear Katie and Landon,

Hi, it's me, Hanna. Thank you for visiting with me on the weekend. It was great to see you. Even though I was tired and due for a nap, I had so much fun playing with you. Mama and da-da also enjoyed the visit and hope to get together again soon. You are always welcome to come visit Hanna's Home as well.

Da-da and me

Hanna knows who her "da-da" is. As soon as she hears the back door, she looks up and starts waddling towards it mumbling "da-da". She also has "ba-ba" down pat too, although she doesn't always associate it with her Baba, Brad's mom.

And as for "ma-ma"... well... it's still her word of choice when she's standing in her crib wanting our attention.  Except the volume is much louder and the pronunciation is more like "MUM-MMMMMMAAAAAAAAHHHHH", as you can see the back of her throat.

A good set of lungs she has indeed.
